Our Hike Up the New Road

When I first moved to Metlakatla the town was building a road heading North on the island towards Ketchikan.  Construction was finished finally in about September.  Matti and I decided to take advantage of some sunshine this last weekend and hiked up the steep road.  Here are the photos from that walk!  :)

Can you see the eagle?

The ice was finally starting to melt!

We were wondering if this was Wolf poop.  We think we were too far down the road for a dog to have done it.....who knows though!

Child Quote of the Week

Child:  "Miss Counts....I can't read this."
Me:  "Yes you can.  I've watched you read it before."
Child:  "Well that day my brain was working."
Me:  "Oh stop it.  Just try!  You don't ever want to give up when it comes to reading."
Child:  "Fine.  Nnnnnaaaannnnn   c-a-t-t-t  sssssssaaaaattttttttt......."
Me:  "See!  You did it!"
Child:  "No way Miss Counts.  I feel like I'm reading African words."
