Gift from God

The kids were lining up for lunch and I was waiting for them to put on their jackets when I noticed that one of my little angels was scrutinizing me closely.  She wrinkled her forehead as she thought and finally she tugged on my sleeve.

"Yes honey?"

"Will you just lean down here already please?"

(I leaned down)  "Why yes I can.  What can I do for you?"

She wrapped her arms around my neck and gave me a large, wet kiss on my cheek.

"I think I'm going to like you, Miss Counts."

Reason #1 for why I teach - Children are gifts from God and they teach grown ups about unconditional love.

  1. And soo true...not so long ago you were very young and taught us all that...and still do in your love for teaching others. It's always good to see that even the older ones such as us parents or teachers are the ones being taught by our younger generations...by choosing to allow them in our hearts and understand their viewpoints and philosophy at their age. With your posts, we can learn from this too. I just love the diversity of this indian culture that your learning and embracing the heritage of the people. That is quite a gift for you both: for them being able to learn from a gifted teacher; a caring young woman that you have become and you in return from an indian culture, trying to stay preserved in our modern times.
